Letter from your Principal:
Dear Class of 2014,
What a fast year your Freshman year was! Were you RELENTLESS? Did you have any “I wish I would have …” moments? Take care of those “should haves” this year by trying new things, studying harder, become active, do whatever you need to to make the most of your Sophomore year. As we move into this second year of high school, it is even more important to remember that it all counts.
I saw you go through a ton of changes last year. You made new friends and had new teachers and new experiences. Whether you liked it or not, whether you were comfortable or not, whether it was positive or not, things changed. You grew, matured, and were treated as a young adult. As a young adult you have responsibilities. You are making choices on a daily basis now that can be life altering. “Do I get into this car even though the driver had a drink?” “Am I comfortable in this situation with this boy? This girl?” “Do I want to do this?” Like I’ve always said, Life counts, decisions I make today affect me forever. Make sure you think before you act. That’s your responsibility as a young adult. Heavy stuff, I know, but stuff that’s important to remember.
Below are six things that I think will help you this year at KHS.
Mr. Wade’s 6 things to do for a great Sophomore year:
- Get organized- Get a planner!
- Manage your time- make studying and homework a daily routine- a priority. Your grades may impact the choices you have for the rest of your life.
- Sit near the front of the classroom- teachers want you to be successful and there are less distractions in the front!
- Ask questions- Ask for help. KHS teachers are happy to help you learn- just ask
- Hang out with people who make the right choices.
- Set achievable goals- don’t be satisfied with just good enough. Go from average to good, good to great, and great to even better!
Remember, our office is always open, any question, problem or concern, or especially if you want to share a success, we would love to see you. As you have probably noticed by now, my bark is much worse than my bite. Take the time to make sure I know you- ask me what your name is- call me out.
Continue to grow this year, understand that your decisions are beginning to be “Life” decisions, set some goals and have some fun. It’s your Sophomore year- “Be RELENTLESS!”
-Mr. Wade
