KHS Information

Where am I?

School Day: The school day is from 7:50 a.m. - 2:40 p.m. Please help us start the school day right by ensuring that you arrive by 7:40 a.m. so the you can be in class on time at 7:50 a.m.

Daily Schedule: This year, our daily schedule will run from 7:50 a.m. - 2:40 p.m. The busses will leave KHS at 2:55 p.m. each day. Activity busses leave at 4:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. for students in the VTS program. There will only be a 4:15 p.m. activity bus for Kirkwood residents.

Dress Code: In order to facilitate learning for all students, KHS requires that students dress and appearance follow health and safety standards and not cause disruption to the learning environment. Points of emphasis this year will be skirt and short length, sagging pants and hats. Hats, if brought, should be removed when the student enters the building and put in the locker before school begins. Skirts and shorts are to be the length of your finger tips with your arms extended. Students who do not follow these guidelines will be asked to change their clothing, cover up or go home, if necessary.

Cell Phones: Cell phones have become part of everyday life. However, all cell phones are to be turned off while students are in class or in the library. Please help us maintain our academic tone by refraining from making phone calls during the school day.

KHS Parking: Purchasing a static sticker gives Juniors and Seniors the privilege to park on the KHS campus, but does NOT guarantee each student a space. Freshmen and Sophomores are not allowed to park on campus. A Junior or Senior student may purchase a parking sticker for $20 in the main office during the summer or in the 11th grade office once school begins. Parking spots are limited and fines will be given to any student who is illegally parked or who does not have their parking sticker showing on the front windshield, passenger side, lower right corner of their car.

Cafeteria Procedure: The cafeteria procedure is to prepay for lunches and use your I.D. to debit your account. You may bring your money or a check made out to Kirkwood School District in an envelope marked with your name, student I.D. number and grade level to the Main Office. Prepayments may also be made online through the district website. Click here to read more. Click here to go to the payment website. If you have further questions regarding this policy, please call Chartwell at 314-213-6100, ext. 7832.

Holds: If you are "on hold" and have not paid your fines and/or returned missing items, you will not be able to attend the school dances. Seniors will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive a diploma until all fines are paid. You may come to the main office to take care of your hold(s),  Monday through Friday between 7:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.

Attendance: If you are going to be tardy or absent, a parent needs to call the attendance line: 314-213-6195. Students will sign in and out through their GRADE LEVEL OFFICE.
