Policies and Procedures

HOMEWORK POLICY
The district guidelines recommend 30 minutes of homework per night for third grade students. You will find these are averages, with some nights exceeding this and some night requiring less time. If homework ever becomes a problem, please contact your child’s teacher.

ASSIGNMENT BOOKS
The class takes time at the end of the day to record homework in the assignment books. We ask that caregivers sign the book indicating that they have seen the completed homework.
The Homework Hotline can be reached by dialing your child’s teacher’s phone number.

BIRTHDAY TREATS
The third grade will celebrate students' birthdays in many special ways in the classroom. Students may bring in a treat to share with the class, but it may not be an edible treat, due to health and safety concerns. The birthday boy or girl may bring a pencil, eraser, bookmark, or other small item for the class, if he or she chooses. Students may also choose to donate a book or game to the classroom.

WEEKLY REFLECTIONS
Each week your learner will set a goal.  At the end of the week, your learner and and his/her teacher will reflect on his/her performance.  You will receive our individualized weekly reflection in your child’s assignment book.  The intent of the update is to provide caregivers with information about their learner’s homework completion, academic performance, and classroom behavior.  Please sign these weekly reflections.

WEDNESDAY FOLDERS
Each week a Wednesday Folder will come home containing work from the previous week. The folder may also contain school and district communications. Please take time to look through the folder with your child and return it Thursday.
