Where am I?

2011 Kirkcare Food Drive

Robinson students and staff collected 1,592 food items for the Kirkwood community.  Prior to the food drive, students read books about poverty and homelessness. (Boxes for Katje and Fly Away Home are examples of texts read.) Classroom discussions following the readings focused on the root cause of poverty.

Several Robinson staff members (Mrs. Morgan-Holland, Ms. Turken, Ms. Weidinger, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Frierdrich, Mrs. Uhles, Ms. Berkowirtz, Mrs. Bearden and her son, Riley) helped distribute the food to families on Saturday, December 10. The staff plans to continue to help Kirkcare distribute food to the famiies at their homes once a month.  Those attending thought the opportunity to serve others in the Kirkwood community through conversation and the giving of food to other families was a joyful experience.
