Where am I?
Classroom Expectations
YOU ARE HERE TO LEARN! In order to obtain the greatest learning experience from this class, you must cooperate with the following classroom procedures:
1. COME TO CLASS READY TO LEARN!
-Be here for every class and on time.
-Bring a pencil and a sketch book with you for every class.
-Take
care of bodily functions (drink, food, restroom) and personal business
(office, phone calls, schedules, socializing) before class starts; a
tardy will be given. Yes! I do count tardies.
2. PARTICIPATE POSITIVELY IN EACH CLASS!
-Earn points
everyday in your grade. These points are based on listening to

initiating research, independently working, completing production,
meeting objectives, and performing clean-up.
-Listen respectfully, raise your hand to speak and use appropriate communication skills.
-Be alert and awake during class.
-Complete all assignments and projects. No incomplete assignments will be
graded nor extra credit work will be issued as a substitute for a

-Work on art and not other class assignments.
3. BE RESPECTFUL OF PEOPLE AND PROPERTY!
-Mind your manners and be courteous to on another (“excuse me,”“please,” and “thank you”). Keep hands, feet, objects, and unkind words/gestures to yourself.

5. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LEARNING!

-The student is responsible for arranging their schedule and encouraged to sign up for academic homeroom assistance and/or after school tutoring. A sign up sheet is posted outside the classroom door or can be arranged with the teacher personally.
-The student is responsible for getting any assignments and handouts missed upon their return. It is important to meet all deadlines and keep up with your assignments to be successful in class.

the course web page often regarding assignments, resources, and extra
activities to further your learning at home and outside the class.

EVALUATION AND GRADES:
Grades
are based on the total number of cumulative points a student earns
during the semester as a percentage of the total possible points.
The semester grade is averaged with both quarter grades based on the
total points earned. Points are earned for daily work, demonstration
of skills, assignments, projects, journal/sketchbook, quizzes, tests
and presentations. Students will also use the Performance Based
Self-Assessment Sheet to assess themselves throughout the semester on
their projects. A student wishing a higher grade must meet the
assessment criteria and expectations and is encouraged to correct their
projects each quarter. Keep your grades high by meeting due dates,
completing projects, and turning in all your assignments.
ZAP ZERO POLICY:
Students are given one week outside of class time to complete any
projects incomplete without a penalty. A “Z” is placed in the grade
book after this one week grace period, meaning the missing assignment
is counting against the student until he or she turns completes the
assignment. Students are to zap zeroes by completing projects before
the next grading period: mid-progress report grades or quarter grades.
A number “0” means the student had ample time to make up the
assignment and chose not to complete their work in the ample time
given. Unexcused absences or class skips will receive “0”, no credit,
immediately.
GRADING SCALE:
A = 100% - 90%
B = 89% - 80%
C = 79% - 70%
D = 69% - 60%
F = 59% - 0%
CONSEQUENCES:
1st infraction = warning/correction
2nd infraction = student-teacher conference after class, mandatory contact time and/or after school detention could be assigned
3rd infraction = parent contact and/or REFERRAL, assign an after school detention
4th infraction = REFERRAL to the office, class suspension
* Any
interruption or action that results in interfering with someone’s
learning will not be tolerated. Students will be referred to their
grade level office so that others can learn.
*
After school detentions will be assigned to any student not following
classroom procedures and expectations. Inappropriate or severe
behaviors will result in a REFERRAL immediately.
