Photography Tips
LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
In this lesson, you will become familiar with using the digital camera to take good photographs.
INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY:
1. Watch the animated
illustrations on how to take good photographs. Be sure to read each tip description. Click on this link: "Top Ten Tips on Taking Good Photographs"
2. In your sketchbook, list the top ten tips and then summarize each one. Title your list, "Top Ten Photograph Tips to Remember" (10 possible points).
GROUP ACTIVITY:
Find a partner to take your photograph or join a small group of students. Be sure everyone has a chance to use the
digital camera. Have someone take
at least 5 required photographs of you in different views.
- FULL FRONT POSE: Include the head to the feet and face the camera.
- HALF BODY FRONT POSE: Frame the picture it fills the screen from the waist up and your face is looking at the camera.
- CLOSE UP HEAD SHOT: Fill the frame with your head and shoulders. You can look anywhere for this shot.
- SIDE VIEW: Take a side profile picture from the shoulders up.
- POSE OF CHOICE: Be creative and pose in a funny stance or unique action shot. Show your personality. Just be sure to keep it appropriate for school.
FOLLOW-UP SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENT:
- Sketch the photograph by Mr. Kriewall in your sketchbook.
- Review your notes on the "Top Ten Tips to Taking Good Photographs" techniques.
- Answer these questions in your sketchbook:
- What techniques did Mr. Kriewall use to take his photograph?
- Evaluate his photo based on the Top Ten Tips.
